The Use of Biblical Stories in the Treatment of Trauma

Analysis of the biblical accounts of traumatic events and sequelae in the text provide resources to help contemporary trauma survivors make sense of their own experiences.  The use of a shared narrative has potential to  reduce shame and dissociation that occurs in trauma victims.

  2. Participants will have tools to share with their clients who demonstrate the effects of trauma in the treatment room
  3. Participants will be able to use the language of ACES (adverse childhood experiences) to identify sources of healing in their work

Relationship of somatic conversion, attempts at mastery, articulation difficulties to trauma stories and clinical experiences of clients
Keys to recovery work that integrate the biblical narratives and current conceptualizations
