Our Gemara on Amud Aleph recounts that King Munbaz contributed the funds required to make the handles of all the Yom Kippur vessels of gold.

Ben Yeyohada offers a meaning as to why King Munbaz chose that particular donation and enhancement.  He says the King is to the Jewish people like the handle of a vessel.  He facilitates and actualizes the potential of the vessel.

I think this is a beautiful idea that every leader, and really every parent should take to heart.  Our subjects or our children are the main vessel and function.  We merely must act as handles, extending their grip and ability.  We are not the main show.
