Using race, disability, and socioeconomic status as primary lenses, participants will examine how systemic inequities shape sexual health access, therapeutic engagement, diagnostic frameworks, and relational norms. Interactive components, including word cloud reflection, breakout discussions, and applied case examples, will help clinicians identify how marginalization manifests in their clinical settings and supervision spaces.

Participants will engage in structured positionality work to examine their own power, privilege, biases, and potential blind spots across race, disability, socioeconomic status, gender, and sexual orientation. The course will then focus on adapting assessment, case conceptualization, and treatment planning to address structural barriers and culturally specific relational norms. Through applied exercises and collaborative discussion, clinicians will develop a concrete, practice-specific action plan to increase accessibility and cultural responsiveness within their own psychosexual therapy practices. The course concludes with integration, commitment-to-action reflections, and next steps for sustained accountability.

About the Presenter

LaTanya E. Jones, MSM, NIC, MSW, MEd, LMSW, C-PST, is a sign language interpreter, psychotherapist, educator, and researcher. She specializes in psychosexual therapy, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive clinical practice at the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality. Her scholarship and clinical work examine how identity, power, and lived experience shape intimacy, desire, and relational well-being. LaTanya is deeply committed to expanding access to liberatory, culturally responsive sexual health care and advancing global standards in psychosexual therapy.

Learning Objectives:

  1. By the end of the session, participants will identify at least three structural and cultural barriers impacting access to psychosexual therapy.
  2. Participants will identify one privileged identity and one marginalized identity they hold and name one related clinical blind spot.
  3. Participants will integrate at least two culturally responsive strategies into assessment or intervention using a case example.
  4. Participants will develop one concrete step to increase accessibility and cultural responsiveness in their practice within 30 days.
