Society's reliance and dependency on technology has exponentially grown, while continually shifting paradigms and upending traditional human connection. The presentation will address the biological, social and psychological effects it has fostered. Themes that will be covered include: (1) stress and anxiety in the context of technology, (2) the changing nature of human interaction, (3) cognitive dissonance created between our real and virtual identities (4) technology's addictive nature and its consequences, and (5) language and communication pathways. The presentation will then address the role of clinicians on both individual and societal levels, and offer recommendations to help guide clinicians increasingly confronted with the significant impact technology has thus far had and, undoubtedly, will continue to have, on  the course of humanity.
